Back in 2004, The Reader Organization in the UK started a project called "Get Into Reading". The project aims at making literature available to everybody, and has – as a beneficiary side effect – shown to advance the social integration of socially vulnerable groups. Inspired by this, Læseforeningen(the Danish Reading Association, http://www.laeseforeningen.dk/) is implementing this reading practice in Aarhus and other cities in Denmark.
The Reading Association and the libraries in Aarhus are developing ideas for future possible corporation on this matter. Mette Steenberg at Aarhus University is the founder of Læseforeningen and is transforming the English experiences into a Danish context. She is taking part in a large research project about Technologies of the Mind, i.e. how certain activities influence our mind and general wellbeing.
Mette will give a short lecture about her work with reading groups in this research perspective and run a reading group session with the Next Library-participants, in order to demonstrate the specific reading practice used.
The lecture takes place at : Studenterhusfonden, Frederik Nielsens vej 4, Meetingroom 1
The pickup place for this Study Tour will be at the foyer in the Concert Hall.
Price: 40 DKK (5 EUR).
Min. 15 participants - max. 50.
