'Library on demand' or how the 'next library' is shaping its collections and services according to its local groups and communities' needs....

It has to do with the understanding that one of the biggest challenges public libraries face today is to meet the cultural and social diversification of their local communities by introducing specially designed new services...

Case studies and observations from everywhere will be very welcome!

Bring your favorite gadget and share it! Explain briefly what it does / 5 minutes. Purse sized speakers, fancy thumb drives, USB coffee warmer, remote controls, can caps, waterproof keyboards, wireless headsets… I’m sure you get the idea.

I'm not sure if this should go under open sessions or unconference, but here's a suggestion.

Briefly:
“GetUp & MashUp!” would be a workshop showing how to step outside of the traditional librarian role in an entertaining way. Librarians are invited to do an interpretive dance, show a mini movie, act it out, sing or rap, recite some bad poetry, or find another ‘inappropriate’ way to speak up. 3 minutes.

4 workshops will be open for ideas from you - the Next Library Crew will make them happen. Please share your ideas and suggestions before 23 May 2011.
The Next Library Crew will decide the topics for these 4 workshops and make agreements with moderators to organize the workshops.

3 sessions will be “un-conference sessions”. This means that they will be open right until the day they will take place. The Next Library Crew will look at the input from the participants and announce the topics and moderators on the day of the session.
